Program Overview
The University of Utah Health Care Thrombosis Service, in cooperation with Intermountain Health Care Department of Medicine, hosted the second Biennial Thrombosis WEST and Western Regional Thrombosis Symposium on April 26 and 27, 2012, in Salt Lake City, Utah.
2012 Highlights:
- ACCP Antithrombotic and Thrombolytic (AT9) Guideline Updates (Released in February 2012!) AT9 guideline lead authors and editors will cover what you need to know to ensure patient safety.
- The Changing Clinical Landscape: New Anticoagulant Agents—understand appropriate patient selection, new drug pharmacokinetics, interpretation of coagulation assays, peri-procedural management, and approach to the bleeding patient.
- Consult with Regional and National Experts—focus on special populations, cancer, and HIT patient, as well as women-specific issues in thrombosis.
- Foster Collaboration Among Regional Peers—expand your regional contact base by networking with peers to improve patient care and public health specific to thrombotic diseases.

The 2nd Biennial Western Regional Thrombosis Symposium has been developed to increase knowledge, enhance competence and improve performance—with the ultimate goal of improving patient care—of health professionals who manage patients with or at risk of thrombotic disorders from throughout the Intermountain West Eastern Arizona, Western Colorado, Idaho, Montana, Utah, Wyoming).
This 1-day multidisciplinary accredited live conference welcomes international and regionally renowned clinical experts to provide evidence-based and guideline recommended strategies in the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of thrombotic events. Educational outreach is maximized by utilizing the Utah Telehealth Network’s (UtahTelehealth.net) established 47-member network of health care systems and independent clinics from throughout the region, ranging from rural clinics to large-scale urban hospitals.
